I have a ten year old daughter, who under her own volition, asked us to pack healthier foods for her school lunch. It appears that the age of the "Happy Meal" may be coming to an end. Now that summer is here, we shop as much as we can at the local farmers market.

I find this a puzzling story.

Are we to understand that the people of the Gulf States eat a Standard American Diet?

Well I posted this story because the UAE has a good idea as to how to combat obesity.

In a way, it serves as a role model.

As they say "Healthy Body, Healthy Mind!"

If the UAE have the funding and resources to promote nutritional quality foods then so they should with great eclat.

I'd submit that the fast money(or fast food) mongers, along with their little calorie counting schemes, will succumb to a little push and tumble in the UAE.

          An interesting post expursuit

I am not aware of what the normal U.A.E. child would have for a diet. I have eaten Mid Eastern food and like what I was served. But having been in Mexico City and looked at a menu that had "Mexican Style Mexican Food" and "American Style Mexican Food" noted on the menu, I am never sure that what is served is what it is purported to be.

But nutrition is just that no matter where it is coming from. I would be amazed to find that Public school children outweigh private school children for a very simple reason - Private Schoolers are from more affluent on average than Public schoolers, hence a more diet of choice. This usually leads to a more unbalanced diet.

No matter where it is, fresh fruits and vegetables is better for the body than Pizzas and Burgers.
