You know, I gave this article lots of consideration over my steak dinner, and I just don't buy it. Sounds like the article is self-contradictory. If we ate less meat, then there would be MORE ozone-destroying cow farts, not less. And if all we ate was vegetables, then we would have more of our own squishy farts to contend with. On the other hand, if we ate ALL the meat, including each other, then carbon emissions would be drastically reduced. Hmmm... food for thought.

Actually, most commercially farmed animals, and cows, would be extinct if people didn't eat them.

I don't get how people can be so scared of eating less meat. It's like American's have been raised to believe that without meat a person would die. Look at Greece, meat is rarely the main dish for them, and there still fat and happy, and healthy.

Don't get me wrong, i LOVE meat. I eat most any type tossed in front of me(buffalo, emu, ostrich, cow, u name it) But the truth of the matter is we eat far too much meat overall.

Screw the global warming aspects, it's not good for us to eat that much meat. Anyone wonder why heart disease is so common?(Hint, its not the 2 veggies you eat with your 16ounce steak doing it)

This cow farting is a serious issue. I buy and eat loads of beef because I know that every pound of beef I eat is one less pound of farting cow ruining the environment. Look at India where people are starving as cows fart in their faces. Damn vegans want us to be happy sniffing cow farts.

The story did come from Great Brittan , daft people over there .

I have used this argument about cow farting to show how ridiculous the cause and effect is , but here we go "cow mufflers to reduce the emitted gases".

Tax on cows and government emission tests , to make sure the farts are with in a certain range of CO2 emissions .

Thanks for the "joke of the day" .

Are mad cow farts more dangerous than happy cow farts? If so, then this is a good commercial for California cows. After all, California cows are happy cows.

This will never happen. This involves personal involvement and that is crazy talk. Solving big problems is the other guy's responsibility.

Something in my gut keeps telling me that "cooling" will be a bigger problem for us than "warming" in this century. A longer growing season and more available land for crops is better than a shorter growing season and less land in my mind.

Either way, we'll adjust and flourish.

Maybe it's just indigestion over those nice lamb chops last night.

Oh yes, I know there's a joke here about passing gas. Give me a minute. I'll get it.

We could be like Al Gore, eat meat then pay into our own little charity that will off set us eating meat.

Go to the mirror, Neophile, and look at your teeth. In front you have sharp, narrow teeth which are useful for cutting. They are used to separate your food into manageable portions, whether you are biting into a pot roast or a celery stick. At the back of your mouth there are broader, flatter teeth called molars. These are particularly useful for grinding your food before you swallow it. They work wonderfully well when you eat corn, grains, and nuts. They mash berries so that the juice flows from them and then they soften the rinds so that you can swallow them, too. They are wonderful.

Between the incisors and the molars, on both the top and bottom of your mouth, are curious, pointed teeth, often slightly longer than the others. These are your canine teeth, and they have only one purpose. They are there to tear your meat. You have been fitted by nature to consume the widest possible variety of foodstuffs, and fruits, vegetable, tubers, and meats are all appropriate foods for humans.

And thus the real aim behind global warming rears its ugly head yet again. More than anything, the global warming campaign is being used to excuse further control over people's lifestyles...all for the sake of the planet of course. Thus far, this control is not in the form of legislation, but is wielded through fear. Once this fear is strong enough, legislation will soon follow.
