Posted by: populist 1 year, 2 months agoBush is an alcoholic. We have the right to know if he's fallen off the wagon, as this would be incredibly serious in any job, let alone the leader of the free world, and the commander in chief during war time.

alcoholics are not supposed to drink a drop, for their own good. It doesn't matter if they are in treatment or not, once you are an alcoholic-that's what you are, if you are in recovery, which for an alcoholic, will last a lifetime, you don't drink period! You don't go into treatment centers or have a breathalyzer to start your car for a period of time-then after it's over say 'I'm not an alcoholic anymore.'

Like half the presidents haven't been heavy drinkers? Nixon was plowed half the time. Kennedy had a recipe for frozen daiquiris taped to the wall in the WH kitchen... this is interesting though, because it's a different story for someone considered "recovering." However near beer is near beer, and virtually everything considered "facts" is generally little more than opinion. Not that they're wrong, they just aren't based in scientific fact.

My mom was a hopeless alcoholic and that bit with "President" Bush grabbing the orchestra conductor's baton and "conducting," then kissing the female conductor on the top of her head sure seemed like he was loaded to me.
He became a Born Again Fundamentalist Christian instead of enrolling in Twelve Step programs for his alcoholism and cocaine addiction and has acted like a serious dry-drunk in public several times.
(Churchill pulled a lot of real crap we can talk about on on a nice WWII post.) Let me just say that severe alcoholics' competence rapidly degrades, their attitudes either become uncaring, depressed, or paranoid and hostile.
Impeach.

Although AA and other programs would criticize his drinking it, Bush is drinking Buckler in the picture, which is a "near beer" and non-alcoholic. I'm not a fan of the prez, by any means, but I just wanted to point that out.

Bust has been the worst president ever while sober. I hope he does start drinking again. Things might improve.

Actually, an alcoholic shouldn't ingest ANYTHING with alcohol in it. It sets off the behaviour.
My on the wagon mother had one bite of a Gran Marnier cake and instantly started harassing the waitress in an alcoholic fashion (Mom's face changed, her tone of voice changed, she became hateful, etc.)
Try living with a true drunk. You won't like it.

There is no evidence that anything was set off. Indeed, I wouldn't be surprised if this photo turns out to be a PhotoShop hoax.
In 16 months, Bush Bashers will join Clinton Haters on the ash heap of politics. Enjoy the ride while you can
