    Thanks Neophile, good article.

The milk, all dairy products, beef, pork, chicken, etc. and animal that consumes corn will increase in cost.

Drinking water will be the next oil!

So, we're growing more corn to produce ethanol, which almost nobody uses, driving up the price of milk, which almost everyone uses. Meanwhile, the profits from oil sales will continue to increase, while the profits from milk sales (for the farmers) will stay about the same. Does anybody else think American economics is stupid sometimes?

I went out to the store last night to get some milk and it was 3.50 a gallon... seemed kind of high to me already, considering the gasoline I had just put in my car was slightly cheaper.

I'm sure a gallon of milk lasts the average American family a good while longer than a gallon of gasoline.

I would say if there was one cow left on this earth, Then I could understand the price needs to go up.

If everyone traded in their car and rode a cow, we would not have to pay very much for gas or milk.

Consider that we have some real alternatives to dairy products (soy), whereas with petroleum, we are very dependent at the moment.

First the dairy farmers have to pay for all the hormones that are injected into the animals and then someone has to pay for the fuel to transport the milk from one place to another.

Agreed. Not to mention someone having to pay to raise and ship the corn used to feed the animals.

therefore, if you have money to invest you should invest in milk futures now, and then sell in october before the milk market plummets.

That means everything will go up. I try not to do dairy. Cheese is full of fat but I enjoy yogurt. If that goes up to $2.50 a container I do not know what to do.

Bush says everything will be fine as long as wages don't increase.

He probably thinks starving the people who didn't get killed in Iraq is a big plus to population control.

That is an issue i addressed on another thread yesterday.

The rising cost of gas isn't the end of price gouging, everyone is going to get in on the action, and our govt is going to let them, just as long as their greedy palms are greased in the meantime.
